British Academy Virtual Study Tour

MORNING SESSION (10.00 - 11.30)
The morning session will be led by Vanessa Cuthill, Director of Research, and Dr Ken Emond, Head of Research Funding, and other British Academy colleagues. The morning session will include an overview of the Academy, providing detailed insights into the research funding and international schemes, and explain the ways that the Academy communicates and engages with its stakeholders. There will be opportunities for questions and suggestions.

AFTERNOON SESSION (14.00 - 14.40; 14.45 - 15.25)
After an extended lunch break, Participants will join small interactive sessions run at 14.00 and again at 14.45 which will give the opportunity to engage in two of the following three discussions topics:

• Equality, diversity and inclusion - explore how the Academy is approaching equality, diversity and inclusion. How well does it represent the UK and international research communities? What action is it taking and what more can it do?

• Supporting Early Career Researchers – hear how the Academy is developing its support for Early Career Researchers (ECRs). Share what you know institutions already offer to ECRs and views on how the Academy might add to this? How does the current pandemic change the needs and support offer for ECRs?

• Engaging with institutions and research offices – discuss how the Academy does and could engage with institutions and research offices and identify any opportunities for closer working. Are there good examples of working with other funders? What information and data sharing would be helpful? Are there be opportunities to understand more about individual roles and challenges faced by our profession?

IMPORTANT REGISTRATION INFORMATION
• ARMA members can join for the morning only, or both the morning and afternoon.
• It is not possible for members to join only in the afternoon due to the background information shared in the morning.
• There will be unlimited places available in the morning, but a limit of 60 places in the afternoon (20 in each discussion topic session). Afternoon participants will be invited on registration to rank their interest in each discussion topic. In the case of over subscription for the afternoon session, the numbers of registrations from each institution will be considered to ensure a breadth of opportunity across all UK institutions.
