Life Drawing - Autumn 2019

The ten weeks will involve looking at the history of life drawing from classical to the 21st century which will give you a chance to explore your own style as an artist. The art of observation will be key to expressing your own style. Mark, the tutor will demonstrate the techniques in a fun and enthusiastic way.
Suitable for the beginner and the seasoned artist.

Week One: Shaking off the cobwebs and exploring classical drawing.
Week Two: The importance of the Renaissance and the use of chalk media.
Week Three: The expressive minds of Rembrandt and Goya; expression through gesture.
Week Four: Expression with media.
Week Five: Pre-Impressionism, the expression of the human form how the pencil works
Week Six: Impressionist romance and realism using pastel and chalk.
Week Seven: The colour and psychology of the twentieth century painting.
Week Eight: The dark days; charcoal and chalk
Week Nine: New York, New York! Find your groove in drawing large.
Week Ten: The influence of the London school; painting on canvas.
