Jisc has been leading a project on how persistent identifiers (PIDs), such as ORCID IDs for people, or DOIs for outputs, could be used to generate efficiencies and new insights across the research lifecycle. The work initially focussed on smoothing the implementation of open access, was sponsored by Research England, and carried out by a team from MoreBrains Cooperative.
The MoreBrains team have been exploring how PIDs could be used to ‘optimise’ current workflows in priority areas (including funding, research data management, and output publication), and they are inviting ARMA members to participate in a virtual workshop to develop a model of an ‘ideal world’ PID-optimised workflow for institutional research management. How could PIDs and associated descriptive information about grants, people, projects, organisations, and outputs make your life easier? If you can think of opportunities for more efficiencies or insights, better information reuse, automation, or any other optimisations that PIDs could help with, then this workshop is the chance to share your ideas and help with working out how to realise them.
The virtual workshop will take place on 6 July 10.00 - 12.00. If you are interested in participating, please submit an expression of interest to attend by signing up to waitlistr. As the virtual workshop format will be small group discussions, a representative sample will be selected from the expressions of interest. The deadline for expressions of interest is 11am on 24 June. You will be notified by 30 June if you have been allocated a place at the workshop.
